TRACK DAY!!! - Feeler

OK, I posted this on the old board but I have now gotten the green light from the track organizers.

Plan is to get a small group of photographers and head out to Shannonville racetrack to shoot a track day. Subject to safety rules, pretty much access to shoot the track and cars, etc.
Opportunities to do ride-alongs with the drivers too, if they are ok with it. Usually its a pretty fun day of sun, fast cars, music, and the sound of racing. We usually have lunch there at the track too. Lots of fun.

Should be a variety of cars there, including a bunch of modified BMWs from my old club.

Tentative Date: June 15, 2012
or another date in July, according to their schedule.

The club rents the track, which is a lot cheaper on weekdays since no official races are being run.

no costs. Unless we want to hire a model to do some "racetrack pin-up" photos too.

We got married on the Sunday of a long weekend, pissed a lot of people off :p

OK, sounds like the track group might already have some 'racing models' available to come out already so that might make it even easier. They have some periodically in typical racing-inspired wear

The 15th works for me. Is this still likely to happen? I'm thinking I need to rent a long lens so trying to plan it out. Pretty stoked for a track day and a day off work :)

if not this day, we can go the July/August days, which have yet to be set.

For me, I know I'm available in June :), can't guarantee my time out although I'm still sitting on over 20 days vacation, have some stuff planned with family and project work pulls me in many different directions. It'd be nice to get out in June :) if that was possible. We're already up to three:

Honestly, it's a lot of fun just to go out and hang out in the sun all day in a racetrack with full access. When i used to track, music, you can eat, sit in the sun, get to sit in with other drivers and experience their different car set ups, etc. They also bring their car team models to a lot of these so it's a pretty light hearted day, with out without taking photos.

My work is just... pushes everything else out of my mind :(
