Interesting, a cheapo lens line for the FX cameras. I wonder if they are planning on bringing full frame to the masses....

VERY interesting. It would make sense to make a cheaper 24-70. The 70-300 already works on FX. Maybe a nice 24-105 F4 like the Canon and they're set. That's the biggest hurdle to going full frame in the consumer segment, the current cost of full frame lenses.

They already have the lower cost 50 and 80 f/1.8's for cheaper ff. The cheaper 24-70 would fill in a niche on the lower full frame side and I think that the 24-120 f/4 already competes with the 24-105 f/4 from Canon. Both have VR/IS and AF-S/USM so I doubt Nikon would build a 24-105 f/4 to undercut the 120. I have the 120 and it's surprisingly good and I picked it up used on Fred Miranda for just around $850.

Well if Nikon comes out witha Non nano crystal 24-70 lens, the quality of photos would not be good.

highly debatable my friend. does this mean a pro photog, let's say McNally use a non nano crystal lens, his photos won't be good?

It's amazing how people made spectacular photo's before the advent of nanocrystal, AF-S, USM, IS, VR and any other acronym you want to throw in. Hell, you could some of those guys lenses made of coke bottle and they'd make spectacular images :)

i know it's hard to ignore the advertisements, etc. and human nature but yeah, the tools are only a small small part of it. So many great photographers used old, outdated equipment that would be surpassed by every "Uncle Bob" out there. But that is such a tiny part of a photo, and only in rare circumstances (too dark and ended up with high grain, etc.)
I can't think of a case where ANYONE (aside from amateur photographers) would complain about a great photo because it could have been slightly sharper with a $2500 lens. People care about the content of photos, not the technical aspects that barely affect it.
