OK, for the last 3 weeks, i've been researching what it would take to shoot some high speed photography similar to this i found on Flickr (David Kittos photographer):

Strawberry Cream Splash in a spoon (blue background) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/david_kittos/4118512760/) by david.kittos (http://www.flickr.com/people/david_kittos/), on Flickr

It is a great commercial/foodie blend of photography that is probably very sellable and cool for still lifes, etc.
There are a number of products in the market that can control the flash unit properly.

I was just putting this out to see if anyone has experience or equipment who has done this previously?
If there a few people, maybe we could collaborate on pooling resources and working on some wicked shots.

ha, just watched it now. Nice idea, but poor execution. Their shots look bad! ha ha

No, the cleaner image above needs a specific trigger to get the shot perfectly timed. A IR beam trigger or something else like that, not scattershot technique from DigitalRev .

hey, i'd like to see you catch a bullet shooting through an apple with your shutter finger, then i'd give you all the props! LOL

All rhommel needs to do is tell the bullet to make a facebook face, it'll stop for him.

Check this site. Stopshot is pretty good at controlling camera and high speed photography. There is a photo member of Ajax Photography Club who has one of these.

a lot of photogs do this just by trial and error...

I don’t use any sound/photogate triggers to get my splash/drop shots. Just good old shutter/finger coordination, patience and shooting sessions lasting for hours at a time
